Ufuk Şenel

contemporary dance



Ufuk Şenel works as a dancer, choreographer and instructor based in Istanbul. He completed his undergraduate degree Modern Dance Department of Yıldız Technical University led by Geyvan McMillen. During his undergraduate studies, he worked with instructors and choreographers like Zeynep Tanbay, Kaya Ilhan, Ugur Seyrek, Paul Clayden, Juan Kruz Garaoi de Esnaola, Liam Stell, Nicole Caccivio, Caren Potter and Gary Galbraith, Matthew Hawkins, Hilke Diemer, and Loretta Livingstone. He danced in the works of prominent artists such as Tuğçe Tuna, Aydan Türker, Handan Ergiydiren, Jerome Bel, Hilke Diemer, Paul Bargetto, Erik Kaiel, and Loretta Livingstone.

In 2014, he received a DanceWEB scholarship and with the support of the Turkish Cultural Foundation, he attended the Vienna International Impulstanz Dance Festival and worked with Meg Stuart. As a result of his collaboration with Can Bora, he produced ALTAR and Rabbit Hole. Ufuk has been staging his choreographies since many years, participated in important festivals in Turkey and internationally. He is currently pursuing a masters degree in the Department of Contemporary Dance at Mimar Sinan University, teaches contemporary dance and gives workshops as well as conducting his projects at various locations such as Çatı (Association of Contemporary Dance Artists) and Salt Galata.
